How easy is it for you to do something when you think that you can do it?  I am going to guess that you have no trouble at all doing what you want or need to do in those instances.

Now, think about how difficult it is to do something when you are in the mindset that you possibly cannot do it.  In those scenarios, I am thinking that you struggle to get any part of those activities completed.

When we are injured, most of us seem to focus on what we cannot do instead of what we can do, and that prevents us from getting any further in our recovery.  I want to encourage you to change your mindset, so you can have the right attitude for your recovery and the years after.

Here are 3 things that you can do to create the attitude that you need to completely recover:

1.) Start Your Own Vision Board

So many times, people do only what they are told to during recovery, because they think that those steps must have worked for others in the past so they will work for them.  However, you are not every other person who has had the same injury and what worked for them may not work for you! Yes, there are basic guidelines for every injury recuperation, but they are suggestions, not written in stone.  That is why I suggest that you create a vision board to show where you want to be a month, six months, and even a year in the future.

If you have a goal in your mind, and on paper or poster board or even on your computer screen, you will find that it is much easier for you to achieve everything that you want.  Look at your vision board at least once a day, or more if negative thoughts start to creep in, and see how much of a difference it makes on how you feel.

2.) Believe in Yourself

I have heard so many people saying that they eat right and do all their exercises, yet they cannot figure out why they are not succeeding with their goals.  Of course, then I also hear them go on and on and on about how they possibly could never do this or that, even though those are two things that are crucial to them reaching their goal!

I urge you to get rid of all of those negative thoughts and start believing in yourself.  Think about how you can do anything that comes your way. It is the only way that you can achieve your dreams and goals faster than you ever thought possible!

3.) Connect with Positive People

Negativity is everywhere in this world, which is why it is so important that you take the time to connect with positive people.  Now, in a perfect world, you could spend your days surrounded only by those who share positivity. However, that will never happen, so make sure that you connect with as many people who will lift you up that you can.  If no one in your inner circle is helping keep you positive during your recovery, then find a support group that can help you believe in yourself once again!

These three things will get you on the right track to finding the attitude that you need to completely recover, but there are other things that you can do as well.  I don’t care which options you use to find the attitude that you need, just do it so you can become the healthier you that you want to be!
